Join us for a virtual info session about SVA’s MA Design Research, Writing &amp; Criticism (D-Crit) two-week Summer Intensive—an immersive, in-person program in New York City for anyone looking to sharpen their skills as a thinker, reporter, and storyteller.In this session, Program Directors Molly Heintz and Eric Schwartau will walk you through the who / what / when / where / why of D-Crit’s long-running summer residency: what the two weeks actually look like day to day, who it’s designed for, what you’ll make, and how to know if it’s the right fit. You’ll also have time for Q&amp;A.<h3>About the Summer Intensive</h3>The Summer Intensive offers practical methods and provocative frameworks for understanding—and writing compellingly about—images, objects, and spaces. Through close reading, field research, studio-style workshops, and structured critique, participants build the skills that matter across creative industries: clear thinking, deep research, and engaging expression.By the end of the two weeks, participants will have:<ul><li>Completed several pieces of writing</li><li>Developed story ideas and reporting directions</li><li>Built a flexible toolkit for writing authoritatively and imaginatively about design</li></ul>Participants also receive desk space in our bright, airy studio in the heart of Manhattan—so if you’re in the New York area (or would like to be), we invite you to take up residence with D-Crit this June.<h3>Perks include</h3><ul><li>24/7 studio desk access + printer access</li><li>In-person studio visits to New York architecture and design firms, plus independent artists and designers</li><li>A roundtable conversation with D-Crit faculty member and design writer Steven Heller</li><li>An opportunity to meet publication-in-residence The New York Review of Architecture staff</li><li>Built-in community: meet fellow participants and explore the city together</li><li>Free access to select SVA-partner museums</li></ul>
