The Art of Intimate Touch
Ask clearly. Give genuinely. Receive fully. A conscious touch workshop featuring the Wheel of Consent by Betty Martin.
✨ Conscious Touch. Deeper Connection. Skills That Last a Lifetime. ✨
Facilitated by Shiva J · The Heart Centered Being LLC · Open to Singles & Couples
What if one evening could permanently change the way you touch — and the way you communicate?
Not as a metaphor. As a real skill, built in a real evening, with your real partner beside you. That's The Art of Intimate Touch. And if something in you just leaned forward reading that — keep reading.
🌀 The Heart of This Workshop: The Wheel of Consent
This workshop is built on one of the most transformative frameworks in conscious relationship and somatic education — the Wheel of Consent, developed by somatic educator Betty Martin.
Most of us were never taught the difference between touch that serves the giver and touch that serves the receiver. We were never taught how to ask clearly for what we want, how to offer without expecting, or how to receive without performing. The Wheel of Consent maps out these four quadrants of giving and receiving — and what happens when we confuse them.
In one evening, you will:
- Understand the four quadrants of the Wheel of Consent — Taking, Allowing, Giving, and Accepting — and how each one shows up in your relationship
- Discover which quadrants come easily to you and which ones you've been avoiding
- Practice moving through each quadrant consciously, with your partner, using touch as the medium
- Learn to ask for exactly what you want — and hear your partner do the same
- Experience what it actually feels like to give touch for your own pleasure, and to receive touch for yours
Betty Martin's work has changed thousands of relationships. Tonight, you'll experience it firsthand — guided, embodied, and intimate.
🙌 Why Touch? Why This Workshop?
Conscious touch is one of the fastest paths to genuine intimacy — and one of the most underused. Most couples have been touching each other for years without ever asking: Is this for me or for you? Do you actually want this right now? What would you love?
Those questions sound simple. They're not. Most of us find them surprisingly difficult to answer — and even more difficult to ask. This workshop gives you the language, the framework, and the embodied practice to ask and answer them with confidence, warmth, and genuine curiosity.
The massage techniques we teach are a vehicle. The destination is a relationship where both partners know exactly how to ask for what they need, give what they genuinely want to give, and receive without guilt or performance.
✨ Your Evening Experience
Sacred Opening & Intention Setting (30 min)
We open the container together — grounding, connection, and each pair setting private intentions for the evening. This isn't a formality. The quality of your intention shapes everything that follows.
The Wheel of Consent — Teaching & Exploration (45 min)
Shiva J walks you through Betty Martin's Wheel of Consent framework in depth. You'll understand the four quadrants, recognize your own patterns, and begin practicing the language of clear asking and gracious receiving.
Conscious Touch Practice (90 min)
Guided, step-by-step massage instruction built around the Wheel of Consent. Each pair works only with each other in your own designated space. The focus is presence and connection — not technique or performance. Professional guidance throughout, with full respect for your boundaries.
Integration & Reflection (30 min)
Space to process what came up — with your partner, and optionally with the group. This is often where the deepest insights land.
Sacred Closing (15 min)
We close the container together and set intentions for continuing this practice at home.
👥 Who This Is For
This workshop is open to singles and couples alike — and all relationship configurations, orientations, and expressions in between.
- Singles who want to practice the Wheel of Consent and develop real conscious touch skills in a fully negotiated, non-sexual setting
- Couples — committed, long-term, newly together, or anywhere in between
- Triads and non-monogamous configurations — all welcome
- Play partners exploring intentional, consent-based touch
- Practitioners — coaches, therapists, bodyworkers — wanting firsthand experience of this framework
No prior experience with tantra or massage required. No prerequisites. Come exactly as you are.
🤝 A note for solo attendees
If you're attending solo, you'll be paired with another solo attendee or, with everyone's enthusiastic agreement, may join a couple for certain exercises. Shiva J will make pairing suggestions at the opening circle — and you always have full choice. Nothing is decided until everyone has said a clear yes.
All touch in this workshop is non-sexual and explicitly negotiated before it begins using the Wheel of Consent framework. You are practicing touch as a skill — not being intimate with a stranger. Every touch is purposeful, boundaried, and agreed upon.
Men attending solo often find this the most valuable practice of their year — learning to receive touch without performance, and to give without agenda, in a fully negotiated container. This is rare. Most men are never given this kind of permission.
💑 A note for couples
If you're attending as a pair, you will always work with each other unless you explicitly choose otherwise. Solo attendees are never introduced into your space without your full and enthusiastic consent. Your container is yours — always.
⭐ What Past Attendees Are Saying
"We learned so much about communication in just one evening. The massage techniques were wonderful, but the real gift was learning how to actually ask for what we want — and hearing each other answer honestly. The Wheel of Consent framework changed everything."
— Sarah & Mike, together 8 years
"I was nervous about the group setting, but it was so respectful and intentional. We felt completely safe to explore and connect. Shiva J holds space with such skill — warm and funny and completely present."
— Lisa & David, married 12 years
"We've done couples therapy and read all the books. This hands-on approach to consent and conscious touch was more effective than any of it. We left with actual tools we use every single week."
— Rachel & Tom, together 3 years
"The Wheel of Consent section alone was worth the entire evening. I had no idea how much I'd been giving touch out of obligation rather than genuine desire — or how rarely I'd been asking for what I actually wanted. This rewired something fundamental in how we relate."
— Maria & Alex, married 6 years
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly happens during the workshop?
A structured, guided learning experience where you practice the Wheel of Consent framework and conscious touch techniques with your own partner. You're in a room with other pairs, but each pair has their own designated space and works only with each other.
What should we wear?
Comfort is key. Many choose bikinis, underwear, or lightweight clothing that can be easily adjusted. Bottoms remain on throughout. Please bring a robe, sarong, or blanket for comfort and modesty. You disrobe to whatever level feels comfortable for you both.
Do we need experience with tantra or massage?
Not at all. We teach everything you need. The focus is presence and connection, not advanced technique.
How private is it?
Each pair has their own designated space. You only touch your own partner. Participation in any exercise is entirely optional and you can modify anything at any time.
I'm attending solo — who will I work with?
Solo attendees are paired with another solo attendee where possible. With everyone's enthusiastic agreement, a solo person may also join a couple for certain exercises. Shiva J facilitates pairing suggestions at the opening circle — you always have full choice and nothing is confirmed until everyone has said yes clearly.
I'm a man attending solo — will I be touching other men?
Possibly, depending on who else attends solo. All pairing is suggested, never assigned — you have full choice. All touch in this workshop is explicitly non-sexual and negotiated in advance using the Wheel of Consent. Many men find conscious, boundaried, purposeful touch with another man one of the most unexpectedly powerful experiences of their practice.
What if we feel uncomfortable?
Your comfort is the absolute priority. Every exercise is optional — for solo and couples alike. You can modify, pause, or step out at any time with no explanation needed.
