The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Following their sold-out Stevie Wonder Reimagined and Prince Reimagined shows, Jazz Mafia returns with a new project exploring the music of The Beatles through a modern lens. Helmed by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Otis McDonald and featuring Jazz Mafia’s core acoustic ensemble, the show reframes the band’s legendary catalog with fresh grooves, inventive arrangements, and unexpected musical backdrops.What might The Beatles sound like if they were an emerging band today? Otis McDonald – vocals, guitar, keys Mike Olmos – trumpet Tommy Occhiuto – sax Adam Theis – trombone Colin Hogan – keys Josh Thurston Milgrom – upright bass Henry Plumb – drumsJazz Mafia is a wrecking crew of musicians, composers, and producers whose music, media, and curated experiences shape tastes and elevate the community. In the year 2000, trombonist, bassist, composer, arranger, and producer Adam Theis co-founded Jazz Mafia – an eclectic artist collective of forward-thinking and accomplished players in Electro, Hip-Hop, World, Classical, and Jazz. Jazz Mafia is a prolific staple of the quintessential San Francisco sound, uniting creative and accomplished Bay Area instrumentalists, vocalists, MCs, composers, and arrangers.
