Learn about coastal processes, coastal hazards, and adaptation strategies that can be implemented to enhance coastal resilience.

The Coastal Leadership Academy is a free workshop that introduces coastal processes, coastal hazards, and adaptation strategies that can be implemented as alternatives to hardened shoreline structures and traditional infrastructure projects to enhance coastal resilience. Adaptation strategies are policy, conservation, and nature-based practices that can be implemented to reduce community risks from coastal hazards like erosion, flooding, and urban heat. Facilitated small group exercises will help attendees identify sites in their community that would benefit from adaptation strategies.

Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

o 1:00 – 1:30 pm – Registration and Networking (30 min)

o 1:30 – 1:45 pm - WUPPDR introduction/teaser (why are we here) (15 min)

o 1:45 – 2:30 pm – EGLE (45 min)

o 2:30 – 2:40 pm – Break with Refreshments (10 min)

o 2:40 – 3:30 pm – EGLE (50 min)

o 3:30 – 4:00 pm – Community Reporting (30 min)
