Take a photography class in our traditional photo darkroom, learn the fundamentals of digital photography, or experiment with alternative photo processes like cyanotypes and anthotypes!

Have you ever wanted to learn how to use a film camera, develop your own film, or make photographic prints in the darkroom?In this class, we will go through the entire process of darkroom photography: learning how to use an analog camera, shoot, develop film, and print. We will also experiment with camera-less printing techniques like making photograms.This class is taught by visiting artist-in-residence Katherine Finkelstein. Katherine joins us for the month of May from Brooklyn, NY. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.Schedule: We will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in May from 6-9pm. Dates: 5/5, 5/7, 5/12, 5/14, 5/19, and 5/21. Note: We will have at least 1 optional weekend daytime outdoor shooting session during this class, location TBD. Katherine will check in with students on the first class about this.Registration: If you are excited to sign up for this class, please jump on the opportunity! This is the first darkroom class we have offered in two years! Group size for this class is small, with 3 students maximum. Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are offering sliding scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.Tuition assistance is available for Alchemy classes and workshops if finances are a barrier.
