What will I learn in this training?

You'll learn everything you need to know to participate in the Rare Plant Monitoring Program. This includes background on rare plants in Wisconsin, how to prepare for a survey, navigating to rare plant populations, and interpreting maps. We'll also cover how to collect data and submit results.

Question 2

How much botanical experience do I need to participate?

Accepted Answer

Anyone is welcome to participate, regardless of skill level. However, the more comfortable you are in the field, identifying plants, the more likely you will find what you're looking for. Some basic plant ID skills are helpful, but we have surveys for beginners, experts, and everyone in between.

What should I bring to the training?

Accepted Answer

The training takes place indoors. Please bring a sack lunch and anything else you'll need to be comfortable. We use optional smartphone apps for navigation and data submission, so please bring your phone if you have one.
