DAY 2: At the Forest’s Edge: A River Cruise into the Magic of Sledge Forest
See Sledge Forest as few ever have—on a journey up the NE Cape Fear Rive that sustains it—while helping carry forward the work to defend it.
At The Forest’s Edge is a rare river journey event along the western edge of Sledge Forest—one of the most ecologically significant and least seen landscapes in our region.
While Sledge Forest itself is privately owned and largely inaccessible, the NE Cape Fear River runs alongside it, shaping its ecology and quietly sustaining the life within. From the water, participants will experience the forest as few ever have in all its expansive, intact, and profoundly inspiring beauty.
We've partnered with Wilmington Water Tours for this guided boat trip offered as an invitation to witness what is at stake—and to support the community-led work to protect it. All proceeds from this event directly benefit Save Sledge Forest, helping fund the ongoing legal, educational, and organizational efforts required to defend this irreplaceable place.
This is not just a tour, it's a rare opportunity of access, perspective, and shared responsibility—made possible by the river, and by those willing to stand with the forest.
Special thanks to Wilmington Water Tours; Stephen Axhelm, our speakers and our amazing volunteers.
A light lunch will be provided.
