Criminal Justice and Precarious Migration – A Shared Learning EventThis Shared Learning Event brings together practitioners, policymakers, researchers, law enforcement representatives, and civil society actors from the UK and Albania to explore the evolving realities of the links between precarious migration, organised crime dynamics, exploitation risks, and reintegration pathways. Convened by Medaille Trust as part of its cross-border learning series, the event creates a dedicated space for dialogue, evidence exchange, and collaborative reflection across interconnected policy and practice domains. Participants will engage with:<ul><li>Key findings from recent research conducted with Albanian returnees from the UK, offering insight into migration drivers, lived experiences, and reintegration challenges</li><li>A network perspective on anti-trafficking developments in Albania through presentation of the first annual report of the URAT Network</li><li>Expert analysis on organised crime evolution, legal and geopolitical dimensions of migration, and community engagement approaches</li><li>Panel discussion and facilitated exchange focused on strengthening cooperation, prevention strategies, and knowledge sharing across contexts</li></ul>This event is designed to bridge perspectives between the UK and Albania, supporting a deeper understanding of the structural and human factors shaping migration and exploitation landscapes, while strengthening relationships between stakeholders working across criminal justice, migration governance, and protection systems. The Shared Learning Event forms part of Medaille Trust’s broader commitment to fostering cross-border cooperation, advancing evidence-led practice, and creating platforms where research, policy, and frontline experience can meaningfully intersect. This year this event is part of the partnership with FCDO via RECAP project.

Delivered by Medaille Trust as part of the RECAP Project (funded by the FCDO Integrated Security Fund), this one-day Shared Learning Event will bring together law enforcement, Home Office representatives, practitioners, researchers, diaspora leaders and civil society actors.

The event will explore the intersection of criminal justice, precarious migration, and anti-trafficking responses within the context of UK–Albania cooperation. Through expert presentations, research insights, and panel discussion, the day will examine:
Evidence from research with Albanian returnees
Emerging trends in organised crime and migration dynamics
Legal and geopolitical drivers of irregular migration
Prevention, protection, reintegration, and cross-sector coordination
Community and diaspora engagement approaches
This event aims to foster informed dialogue, strengthen cross-sector collaboration. Lunch and Refreshments provided.
