Agenda

Aquarium opens for Homeschool Day visitors

You are welcome to arrive at the Aquarium as early as 9:30am. Please check in with our Guest Experience team at the south group entrance of Pier 59 (facing Miner’s Landing and the Seattle Great Wheel). Final entry for Homeschool Days will be at 2:30pm.

Explore Pacific Northwest Tide Pools (grades K–2)

Get up close with live tide pool animals. Learn about invertebrates like hermit crabs, sea urchins and snails, and discover how they have adapted to survive in the intertidal zone. Through the use of puppets, live animals and observation, students will learn how these animals survive in their ever-changing habitat and how simple actions can help protect them.

Orca Discovery (grades 3–5)

What do you have in common with an orca? Discover the connections we share by comparing the life cycle and physical structure of orcas to humans while building a life-sized whale skeleton. Instructors will lead students in a discussion of how our actions can both negatively and positively affect these amazing animals. NOTE: It is recommended that you attend the start of the program for the introduction/overview. Please meet at the south group entrance of Pier 59 five minutes before the class starts (12:10pm), so instructors can escort your students to the classroom.
