Down Home Blues – Documentary Screening & Live Music Performance
A community comes together to keep the blues alive in Oklahoma's last operating juke joint following Selby Minner's passing.
Down Home Blues is a Documentary film set at the Down Home Blues Club, a historic juke joint in Rentiesville, OK. For the last 30 years Selby Minner hosted Jam Sessions there every Sunday. Selby was tragically killed in the summer of 2025 and the documentary follows the family of musicians and community she cultivated as they pick up the pieces and attempt to keep Selby and her husband DC’s legacy alive by keeping the Sunday Jams alive.
The screening will be followed by a 1 hour music set – a live performance featuring musicians who appear in the film.
6:30pm – please arrive early if possible, we'll be getting people checked in, hanging in the lobby, getting people seated.
7:00pm – screening start at 7 sharp! Selby's grandson is going to do the honor of introducing the film, so please be on time to catch that special moment.
8:30pm – the band should start playing around 8:30pm in the theater right after the film ends. There will be a short break to use the bathroom, grab a soda/beer/etc. and then the band will start up.
