An opportunity to explore one of Norwich’s hidden treasures in support of The Magdalene Group

The Magdalene Group is delighted to welcome you to a special open‑garden event on Sunday 31 May, 1:00pm-4:30pm, at the historic Bishop’s House, by kind permission of the Bishop of Norwich, The Rt Revd Graham Usher, and Mrs Rachel Usher. This rare opportunity invites visitors to discover one of Norwich’s most enchanting private gardens while helping to support The Magdalene Group’s vital work with women and young people on violence against women and girls (VAWG) who are affected by abuse, violence, coercion and exploitation.

What to Expect on the Day
This family‑friendly charity event offers a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon surrounded by nature. Visitors can indulge in refreshments and delicious homemade cakes, take part in a variety of gentle activities and a special live performance from the Rock Choir! Children can explore a dedicated treasure trail and take part in traditional garden games, all set within the beautiful and historic grounds of Bishop’s House Garden. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful day out, a chance to appreciate Norwich’s hidden green spaces, or an opportunity to support a local charity, this event promises something for everyone.

Opening Times
Gates will be open from 1:00pm to 4:30pm, with last entry at 4:00pm. Please note that only assistance dogs are permitted on site.

Booking Information
Tickets are priced at £5 per adult, with free entry for under‑16s (accompanied by a paying adult) and free admission for wheelchair users. Early booking is recommended to secure your place at this popular Norwich open‑garden event.

The garden is located at Bishop’s House, Bishopsgate, Norwich NR3 1SB, with the entrance opposite the Law Courts. There is a pay‑and‑display car park nearby at St Helen’s Wharf. For further options, please visit the Norwich City Council website.

The Magdalene Group is a long‑established Norwich charity providing specialist, trauma‑informed support for women and young people affected by sexual violence, exploitation, and coercion. For over 30 years, we’ve supported some of the most marginalised individuals through services such as the Doorway Women’s Service, the Rose Project, and our Jigsaw education programme across Norfolk.
