Overview

After months of deliberation, delegates will present their findings to Mayor Malik, City Council and the Akron community!

Imagine an Akron where residents don’t just get a few minutes at a microphone. They get a real seat at the table. In partnership with the City, local organizations and a league of community members, Unify Akron builds the tools to solve big civic challenges—together.

A Civic Assembly is a group of residents who come together to work on one shared issue: housing. Members of the Assembly (called Delegates) are chosen through a random lottery from Akron households that makes an Assembly that demographically and politically mirrors the population (for any math nerds, it’s called "stratified random sampling”). This helps make sure the Assembly reflects the whole city, not just the loudest voices or those with the most free time.

Delegates are gathering from March to May to learn and deliberate solutions. These solutions will be presented to Mayor Malik, City Council and the Akron community at this public event.
