Celebrate Pohela Boishakh — Bengali New Year 1433 — at King Manor Museum!
Come celebrate Pohela Boishakh — Bengali New Year — at King Manor on Saturday, April 4th! Pohela Boishakh also marks the first day of spring and a fresh start filled with abundance, prosperity, and new beginnings for Bengalis around the world.
This family-friendly festival will feature:
- CUNY City College’s Bollywood dance team — City Chaahat performance + dance workshop
- Guest-led poetry reading
- Live singing and instrument playing
- Alpona/folk art activity station
- Fun family friendly games
- Boishakhi Bazaar booths with jewelry, crafts, and henna stencils
Decor will highlight the bright colors of the festival, flower garlands, and traditional folk design banners.
This program is supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
