Join Faylita Hicks for a a three-hour workshop on creating personal rituals for navigating collective and ongoing trauma.
May 9, 2026 | 11:00 AM-2:00 PM |Walls Turned Sideways | Hybrid (In-Person + Virtual)
Interdisciplinary, interdimensional artist, writer, ritual maker, and ordained practitioner Faylita Hicks joins Walls Turned Sideways Gallery, a nationally recognized space centering art, justice, and incarceration, for a three-hour workshop on creating personal rituals for navigating collective and ongoing trauma.
This workshop responds directly to the realities of contemporary life—constant exposure to violence, surveillance, crisis, and grief through social media, news, and daily experience. Participants will be guided through the process of creating their own rituals using personal items, intuitive practices, and accessible tools for grounding, protection, and care.
The workshop includes a writing component, where participants will develop original mantras and language rooted in their own voices and lived experience. No prior ritual or writing experience is required. Snacks will be provided.
This hybrid event is open to all who are seeking intentional ways to respond, rather than absorb.
