Virginia rapper Nettspend fuses trap sounds with a layered, disorienting approach to production colloquially known as “jerk,” resulting in a style that takes the glitches and artifacts of Auto-Tune a few steps further and makes them the centerpiece of darkly ethereal rap songs. Nettspend emerged in 2022, and his 2024 debut mixtape, Bad Ass F*cking Kid, cracked the Billboard 200 charts.

Nettspend was born Gunner Shepardson and began sharing his music online in December of 2022, shortly after dropping out of high school in the ninth grade. He quickly broke through to larger audiences in 2023 with viral tracks like “Shine N Peace” and “Drankdrankdrank,” and in March of 2024 he performed at the Rolling Loud Festival. His debut mixtape, Bad Ass F*cking Kid, was released in December of 2024, and reached the number 197 slot of the Billboard charts.
