In Person: Kids as Planet Protectors: An Earth Day Celebration @ 10am

Overview

Celebrate Earth Day by participating in multiple hands-on activity stations as kids learn the importance of being kind to our Earth.

Who this In Person Event is for:

Ages 2-12. Adult caregivers are required to accompany child participants. Siblings of participants outside this age range are welcome, but may find the event to be less meaningful and fulfilling.

What you’ll be doing:

Earth Day, sponsored by Amazon, is a wonderful opportunity to show our youngest generation the importance of caring for our environment. We invite you to join us for Kids as Planet Protectors: An Earth Day Celebration, and together we can teach our youth how to be kind to the physical world we all share and create a greener future for us all.

In partnership with the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, we will have multiple stations to help kids take action by protecting our environment and investing in our planet’s future. Activities will include: a book swap, pollinator spinners, learning about composting and recycling, upcycled art, seed ball launching, wildlife encounters, tree planting, and so much more! Community partners, including 2nd & 7, Amazon Think Big Mobile Unit, Char Norman - Artist in Residence, Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks(Metro Parks), Electrify Central Ohio, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW), Joanie Calem, Keep Columbus Beautiful, Ohio Wetlands Association, Ohio Wildlife Center, Save Soil, Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), The Compost Exchange, The Green Cause, and TLC Wildlife Management will be on-site to educate kids on a variety of environmental stewardship actions and hands-on activities.

To promote sustainability in action, we are hosting a book swap at the event. Families are encouraged to bring up to 3 gently used books per child to swap for different books. Consider involving your child(ren) in the selection of the books while discussing the importance of reusing and sharing items.

Note: This event is larger and busier than our standard Seeds of Caring events. Families are invited to explore various activity stations at their own pace.

Specific instructions:

All supplies will be provided. Please bring up to 3 books per child for the book swap. This is a rain or shine event with stations located indoors and outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Why you'll be asked to donate:

Every time we're able to design, coordinate, and offer an opportunity for kids to give back, it's with the help of supporters like you. Please consider making a generous gift to help us continue to empower kids to create a kinder community with their hearts, hands, and minds.

This service opportunity is made possible through the generous support of:

Presenting Sponsor: Amazon

Gold Level Sponsors: Avaap, Columbia Gas and the NiSource Charitable Foundation, The Columbus Dispatch, Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Installed Building Products, JPMorganChase

Silver Level Sponsors: archall architects, The Event Collective, Pepper Construction, Valley Interior Systems
