Introducing ALMA: A Novel Cognitive Architecture for Adaptive AI Systems

Popp-Martin Student UnionCharlotte, NC
Wednesday, Feb 25 from 2 pm to 3 pm
Overview

Learn how evolutionary dynamics and cognitive science converge to give AI systems something they've never had — a principled way to organize

Current AI systems process all knowledge at uniform resolution. ALMA (Abstraction-Level Membrane Architecture) proposes a different approach: knowledge stratified by abstraction level, with selectively permeable membranes governing how information flows between individual agents and collective cognitive spaces. In this talk, Rob Abbott of the Charlotte Complex Systems Institute presents the formal framework, agent architecture, and extensions including emergent metacognition and knowledge base integrity safeguards.
