The annual Barbell MAYhem is back, and this year's event is the clean-and-press! Join in the fun on Friday night, May 1st!

The annual Barbell MAYhem is back - and this year, we’re bringing the clean-and-press back to center stage. Join us for an old-school test of total-body strength on Friday night, May 1st.

Barbell MAYhem – The Clean & Press Classic is a single-lift weightlifting meet wherein competitors will perform the clean-and-press. Each lifter will receive 3 attempts, and the heaviest successful lift will determine their score.

There are no weight classes for this meet, but lifters will weigh in and be scored using the Robi formula, with Q-point age adjustments for Masters competitors. Lifters will weigh-in during one of the following periods:

  • Thursday, 04/30/26: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 05/01/26: 5:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
  • Friday, 05/01/26: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Divisions:

  • Female – Open
  • Female – Masters
  • Male – Open
  • Male – Masters

The open category is for lifters under 30 years of age on the day of competition, and the masters category is for lifters 30 years of age and older. In the masters category, the score will be age-adjusted (using Q-points).

The clean will be judged by USAW standards, and the press will be judged by strengthlifting standards (click here for strengthlifting rules). All lifts will be performed with kilogram plates in 1 kg increments.

Registration runs until 04/30/26, with regular and late registration pricing—so lock in your spot early, and there will be prizes throughout the night!

FAQs

Are singlets required?

Nope. In fact, costumes are encouraged!

Is this event run like a formal weightlifting meet?

Absolutely not. We want people to have a lot of fun, and we also do not want the meet to take as long as a typical weightlifting meet. With that in mind, we'll be using quite a few platorms throughout the meet. If you're looking for a rigid and formal meet structure, this ain't it, folks. Music will be playing, costumes are encouraged, and the judges may be eating and drinking while performing their duties.

What's the refund policy?

All sales are final; refunds will not be provided.

Is it OK if the names on my ticket or registration doesn't match the people who attend and compete?

Registration should match the name of the participant. Please contact phil.meggers@testifysc.com if there are extenuating circumstances that make this impossible.
