A people’s assembly is a facilitated gathering where community members discuss key issues, collectively problem-solve, and decide how to address them.Join us on Saturday, March 21st to learn how you can advocate for increased public library funding, hear more about the services that libraries provide, and get involved to have a positive impact on their future.We will provide free lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.Spanish interpretation will be provided.Much of the focus throughout this event will be on the central questions: “How can our libraries best support and protect immigrant communities, and how can we get involved to strengthen their foundation as pillars of community culture where everyone is safe, supported, and welcome?”Come spend an afternoon in conversation with library users, library workers, and others from across NYC to discuss what increased funding of NYC public libraries could achieve for our communities.All experience levels are welcome. You don’t need to consider yourself an “expert” to join! If you have used the public library or have interest in it, we want you there.Our panel will include a library patron, library worker, library union president, and a city council member to help prepare attendees for breakout discussion groups where we hope to hear more from you and inspire each other to action.Admission is free for all who want it!
