Godlike: Richard Hell at Beyond Baroque
Join us for a solo reading by Richard Hell from the re-release of his 2005 novel, Godlike.
Join us for a solo presentation by Richard Hell, who will be reading from his novel, Godlike. An outrageous spectacle of love between two untamed poets, a 27-year old man and a teenage boy, written by one of America’s original punks and finest writers. Based on Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine’s notorious affair, but set in the epochal downtown poetry scene of filthy 1970s New York, Godlike is a tribute to poetry and the beauty and mess of art, desire, and New York City.
Richard Hell will be reading excerpts from the novel in The Wanda Coleman Theater. Book signing and reception to follow.

About the author
Richard Hell is the author of several books, including the notebooks collection Artifacts, novel Go Now, essays Massive Pissed Love, autobiography I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp, and poems What Just Happened. His music albumns include Blank Generation and Destiny Street. He lives in New York City.
About Beyond Baroque
Beyond Baroque is one of the United States' leading independent Literary | Arts Centers and public spaces dedicated to expanding the public's knowledge of poetry, literature and art through cultural events and community interaction. Founded in 1968 as an experimental literary magazine, Beyond Baroque is based out of the original City Hall building in Venice, California. The Center offers a diverse variety of literary and arts programming including readings and workshops. The building also houses a bookstore with a large collection of new poetry books for sale.

If you are attending in person, ticket purchase is required. Tickets will be available at the Beyond Baroque bookstore on the day of the event, but we recommend registering in advance through Eventbrite. Masks are encouraged while inside our center. Please arrive early.
