The day is crafted largely by the community, based on topics they pick to share. It is a 1-day event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.Who should attend? Anyone who is passionate about a topic they'd like to share or anyone with a desire to learn and connect with others.When you come, be prepared to share with barcampers - whether it's a topic you'd like to present or you want to participate in discussion. There will be open slots for the taking on a first-come, first-served basis. The talks cannot include any sales pitches.Presentations (including a brief Q&amp;A) will be 30 minutes. Suggested themes for these presentations include:<ul><li>Entrepreneur - Talk about your journey, successes, and setbacks.</li></ul><ul><li>Creative - Share creative tips, like building brands and illustrating.</li></ul><ul><li>Technology - Talk about hardware and software that you love to geek out with.</li></ul><ul><li>Kitchen Sink - Discuss a topic that does not fit into one of the other tracks.</li></ul>When you leave, be prepared to share what you learned with the world!The ticket price includes lunch. If you would like to attend but the $20 fee is prohibitive, please send us an email at Team@startgnv.comAttendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one, or otherwise engage in some way with the event (such as be an active listener in the audience and ask questions!). All presentations are scheduled the day they happen. Prepare in advance, and be ready to present with and without audio/visual equipment. Come early to get a slot on the wall and remember that the talks need to be free of sales pitches. Attendees will select the demos or presentations they want to see.Questions? Things to Know Before You GoOnce you've registered, here are some helpful things to know before you go:Check-In<ul><li>Check-in officially starts at 9:00 inside the lobby of the new Blount Hall on West University Avenue and 6th Street. Use the double doors of the main lobby (these are the doors that face the parking lot)</li></ul><ul><li>Coffee and light breakfast items will be provided by our generous breakfast sponsor</li></ul>Parking There is a parking lot behind the building for attendee use as well as street parking. PresentersARRIVE EARLY While we can’t guarantee that everyone who wants to present will get a slot, you’ll have a better chance if you arrive earlySLOTS There will be a whiteboard containing the rooms and timeslots. You will look for an available slot and place your name and presentation name on it.<ul><li>If for some reason, there isn’t a slot for your presentation this year, we hope you’ll still participate as an audience member and use the day to network, support other presenters, and learn.</li></ul>EQUIPMENT The spaces will be equipped with a projector and screen (and in some rooms a computer will already be in place. Plan accordingly. This might mean bringing your own laptop and a thumb drive with a powerpoint/presentation that has any necessary items embedded items in it. You should also be prepared to present without A/V and WI-Fi (just in case).TIMING Sessions should last no more than 30 minutes including an optional Q&amp;A. If you plan to include a Q&amp;A, aim to keep your overall presentation to approximately 20-25 minutes.<ul><li>We will do our best to have volunteers in each room to help you keep track of time, but it is highly recommended that you also set a timer on your phone or ask a friend in the audience to do so to help keep things on track.</li></ul>BE FLEXIBLE Audience-participants will float into various spaces. Though we’ll have signage for each room, and do everything we can to mitigate disruption, don’t be surprised if some attendees initially get lost or need to move through your space to get to another location.HAVE FUN Share your expertise and enjoy yourself as an audience member! Our community is eager to learn, and you will play a big part in that.Lunch The lunch items are based on reservations made through Eventbrite on the days leading up to the event. Our final order must be placed on Monday, May 13. We will do our best to accommodate dietary preferences and later registrations.The following spaces will be available for networking while eating: main lobby of Blount Hall and outdoor tables in front of the main entrance.General Schedule BarCamp will occur from 9:00 am until approximately 3:00 pm.The first session will start around 10:00 am, with 15-minute breaks between sessions.Sessions take place throughout the day in four spaces on the first floor of the Blount Center, totaling 28 presentations.Post-BarCamp NetworkingBarCamp will end around 3:00 so we have adequate time to break things down, but we encourage continued networking downtown. "Building a BIG Community Through Events and Experiences." Creating space for connection, creativity and comfort is what builds BIG communities and leads to positive paradigm shifts. Laila Fakhoury and the co-owners of How Bazar and Dion Dia Records have dedicated themselves to spearheading a community and cultural movement in Gainesville, FL. This journey has led to their biggest experience yet, their premier music festival: The BIG SHO’. Gainesville’s first Hip Hop-forward music festival.

"What is Brand Language and Why Is It important?" Dan is an Industrial Designer with extensive experience in developing product brand language for a number of Fortune 500 companies. He'll help explain what brand language is and why it's important. He'll also share insights on brand language strategy, along with a few tips on making it work well for you and your company.

Dan TeTeak (Industrial Designer, Fracture)

"Experiential Storytelling in Six Words." This presentation will explore storytelling as an experiential learning experience and will focus on how the stories we tell to other people about ourselves are the most powerful ones. This will be a highly interactive and engaging experiential workshop in which participants will have the opportunity to engage in identifying their own stories through creative story prompts and "flipping the script" in six words. I will lead the group in reframing their stories through recognizing radical acceptance, cognitive flexibility and how we become our stories for either better or for worse.
