Overview

Celebrate Earth Day with the North Salem Open Land Foundation! Join us for a special Earth Day event at Ruth Keeler Memorial Library.

Celebrate Earth Day with the North Salem Open Land Foundation! Join us for a special Earth Day read-along of This Is The Earth at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, followed by an outdoor adventure at Durand Preserve.

Designed for children in grades K-5, this program will begin with a conservation-themed story and light snacks at the library. Afterward, we’ll head outside for a guided nature walk, where kids will explore the preserve using scavenger hunt cards to search for things like something growing, something rough or smooth, and signs of animals in the landscape.

Parents and caregivers will accompany children and assist with the scavenger hunt along the way. We’ll wrap up by gathering as a group to share our favorite discoveries and talk about one small action each participant can take to help care for the Earth at home, at school, or outdoors.

This fun, hands-on program encourages curiosity, observation, and a deeper connection to nature while celebrating Earth Day together.

North Salem Open Land Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the character and natural beauty of the town of North Salem, NY and the area around it by establishing land areas free from exploitation, development, and deterioration and by maintaining the environmental and ecological integrity of the area.
