This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of leathercraft through a hands-on project: making a basic wallet or card holder. Students will gain an understanding of leather types, essential tools, and traditional techniques while creating a functional everyday item.

Learning Objectives

You will learn:

  • Leather basics: vegetable-tanned vs. chrome-tanned, leather weight (oz), and patina.
  • How to cut and score leather pieces.
  • How to punch stitch holes and master the saddle stitch.
  • Techniques for assembly, gluing, sanding, beveling, and burnishing.
  • Finishing & leather care for long-lasting use.

Project

You will complete your own hand-stitched wallet/card holder, gaining confidence in foundational leatherworking techniques.

INSTRUCTOR

Bryan Sorrentino is a self-taught hobbyist leather crafter with over five years of experience making bags, wallets, laptop cases, clothing, and accessories. He focuses on blending traditional handcraft with modern tools and design, helping students learn practical skills they can immediately apply.
