This hands-on workshop focuses on simple, soil-first growing methods designed to help you start your garden with confidence. Participants will learn how to make and plant soil blocks—an effective, plastic-free technique that encourages stronger root systems and healthier seedlings from the very beginning.

Led by Rachel McDermott, the class will cover the fundamentals of early plant care, including proper soil moisture, seed placement, and transplant timing. A live soil blocking demonstration will guide you through the process step by step, with soil mix and tools provided for use during the class.

Seeds will be available to use during the workshop, and participants are welcome to bring seeds to share or trade. Whether you’re a first-time gardener or looking to refine your seed-starting approach, this workshop offers a practical, approachable way to grow with intention.
