Ukulele Workshop: Deep River Blues Tutorial with Charissa Hoffman!
Learn to Play Fingerstyle Ukulele- Deep River Blues
Learn to Play Fingerstyle Ukulele- Deep River Blues: This workshop will carry the player from the very basics of chords and melody to an impressive fingerstyle arrangement of Doc Watson’s Deep River Blues. We’ll take it stage by stage together, covering chord shapes and patterns that you can carry beyond this song and into your next jam.
Ukulele player and songwriter Charissa Hoffman is known for her intricate jazz arrangements and heart-wrenching alt-folk originals, rich with introspective lyrics and floating melodies, creating dreamy, ethereal worlds for her listeners.
A 6th-generation musician raised in Nashville, TN, Charissa’s path to music seemed inevitable, but her choice of instrument- the ukulele- came out of nowhere. A celebrated instrumentalist and songwriter, her musical journeys have carried her everywhere from festivals and rock halls to recording a children’s album with Kenny Werner and Béla Fleck. In her solo and original work, Charissa is influenced by artists ranging from Joni Mitchell to Duke Ellington; she draws on singer-songwriter roots and jazz training in her music, creating dreamy, ethereal worlds for her listeners.
Tickets for the workshop and jam are $35. You can pay on Eventbrite or pay at the door if you would like to avoid the service fees. You must RSVP on our Meetup site if you would like to pay at the door!
The workshop will run from 1-2:30 and the jam/Q&A 1:20-2. Doors will open 12:30.
