VINO! ROSSO! PRONTO! (The Red Wines of Italy)

DOC Wine BarBrooklyn, NY
Sunday, Mar 1 from 5 pm to 7 pm
Overview

This tasting-tutorial will fully explain the main regions of Italy, what wines are found in each one, and how to read the confusing labels!

This entertaining tutorial & tasting will fully explain what the main regions of Italy are all about, what wines are found in each one, and teach you how to read their confusing labels!

Everyone is fascinated with Italian wine - and why shouldn't they be? It's the one country that has, by far, the most dynamic variation of grapes & styles (over 325 prominent grape types--yikes!) And it also has one of the richest histories of winemaking; but because of this, it is also very overwhelming. A focused tasting of 8 red wines will enlighten even the rookiest of rookies. You'll be thrilled to realize there's so much more out there than just the same ol' Chianti.

We will be tasting:

· Nebbiolo from Piemonte

· Barbera from Piemonte

· Amarone from Valpolicella

· Lambrusco from Emilia Romagna

· Brunello from Montalcino

· Montepulciano from Abruzzo

· Cannonau from Sardinia

Nerello Mascalese from Sicily

Approx 2hr class; a small nosh of crackers & olives will be provided.
