Old World Wine Tasting

Old World Wine Tasting

Vinifera | Wine to WhiskeyCuyahoga Falls, OH
Saturday, Feb 28 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm EST
Overview

Taste your way through the Old World and learn why wines from Europe have shaped how the world drinks.

In this guided tasting, you’ll get a clear, easy breakdown of what sets Old World wines apart: long winemaking history, strict regional rules (appellations), and a focus on terroir, or how place shapes flavor. You’ll also compare that style to New World wines, which tend to spotlight bold fruit, modern techniques, and grape-first labeling.

You’ll sample four highly rated Old World reds from France, Spain, Italy, and Germany, each with its own character:

Chateau Pailhas, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux 2018 ($43) 90 pts, Wine Enthusiast
Elegant woody notes with red fruit on the nose, a fleshy palate, and tannins that carry a long, balanced finish.

Bodegas Ismael Arroyo Valsotillo Crianza 2016 ($32) 90 pts, Wine Searcher
Deep, aromatic, and complex, with black fruit compote, mineral notes, and soft, expressive tannins.

Le Palaie Gatta Ci Cova Rosso 2021 ($21) 90 pts, Wine Enthusiast
Bright and fruit-forward with raspberries and currants, round and soft on the palate, with a finish marked by fresh acidity.

Bergh Pinot Noir 2021 ($25) 87.5 pts, Wine Searcher
Fruity and spicy with wild raspberry, blackberry, and orange peel, plus hints of nougat and cocoa, smooth and food-friendly.

Come ready to taste, learn, and leave with a better sense of what you like and why. Light appetizers are also included!
