Somatics for Stress Support

Somatics for Stress Support

Columbia Center Event VenueCincinnati, OH
Saturday, Mar 14 from 10 am to 1 pm
Overview

Learn & experience how somatics can offer simple, everyday practices for moving through stress and feeling more resourced

Alright ya'll. I don't think I need to point out that times are stressful right now. There's a lot going on. And our bodies, our nervous systems, are feeling it.

Maybe you notice you are both wired and tired, feeling anxious and also exhausted. Perhaps you feel numb, overwhelmed, and even hopeless. Your body might even be showing new physical health symptoms or flaring up conditions as it works to process the load of stress chemicals. Maybe you know something needs to change, but you aren't sure where to start.

This 3 hour experience is an invitation to slow down and take a pause. This is a space to learn, discuss, practice, explore, and connect. This is an opening for feeling your way through.

Facilitated by Meagan Connley, Integrative Somatic Trauma Practitioner, we will explore:

  • What 'somatics' means and key Somatic Experiencing frameworks that support resiliency from stress and trauma
  • Nervous System education and exploration of how our bodies respond to stress
  • Simple, everyday practices and principles for moving through stress and feeling more resourced

Managing stress isn't about pretending it doesn't exist. It isn't about 'just letting it go' or 'breathing it out.' Moving through stress means having skill and capacity to be present in your body, to notice what is here and what your body needs, to let discomfort teach you something, and to remember what it means to feel safe enough, even for a moment. We will gently turn toward our reality, with supportive skills, so that we can feel embodied and empowered to navigate where we go from here.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Handouts will be shared, and you may also wish to bring a journal if you prefer for your own note taking and reflection. Dress comfortably and bring whatever helps you to feel supported.

If the price of this experience is prohibitive to your attendance, please reach out for scholarship options.
