Carmel Guitar Society is delighted to present Hao Yang at Asilomar Resort for a special evening performance of classical guitar. Join us Thursday, June 18th, 2026, for an intimate concert experience on the Monterey Bay as part of the Carmel Classical Guitar Retreat.

This special performance is open to the public, with limited seating available. Retreat participants receive access as part of their retreat ticket.

Hao Yang is an internationally acclaimed concert classical guitarist and Astral Artist, celebrated for her virtuosic technique, expressive depth, and dynamic presence as both a soloist and chamber musician.

Hao Yang has appeared as a soloist with the Chusächsische Philharmonie in Germany, and as a guest soloist at the Cleveland, Panama, and Beijing International Guitar Festivals. She has performed in major venues including Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center, Miller Theatre at Columbia University, Princeton Sound Kitchen, and other leading concert halls across the United States and internationally.

As a passionate chamber musician, Hao Yang made her Carnegie Hall debut premiering the guitar duo Talking Guitars by renowned composer Paul Lansky with guitarist JIJI. She has performed on the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS) series and was a guest artist at the Concordia Chamber Festival. As a recording artist, she has collaborated with Grammy Award–winning label Bridge Records on multiple chamber music releases featuring works by Paul Lansky and Poul Ruders.

In 2021, Hao Yang won the prestigious Astral Artists’ National Audition, one of the most significant honors for emerging classical musicians. Her additional accolades include top prizes at the Koblenz International Guitar Competition Hubert Käppel 2024, the 54th Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition (Germany), second prize at the GFA International Concert Artist Competition, and first prizes at the GFA International Youth Competition, CSU International Guitar Competition, and the Andrés Segovia 7th International Guitar Competition. She is also a recipient of the Clifton Foundation’s Emerging Artists Award.

Hao Yang holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, a Master of Music degree from the Lamont School of Music, and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Yale School of Music.
