Fayette County TID Celebration and Scholarship Fundraiser
Join the Texas Exes Fayette County Chapter to celebrate the founding of our university and donate to our chapter's scholarship!
Whenever two TX Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education.
As a Texas Ex, March 2nd holds special significance as the day that commemorates the founding of The University of Texas. Established through the Texas Constitution of 1876, the university was envisioned as a “university of the first class,” dedicated to the promotion of literature, the arts, sciences, and more. This day serves as a celebration of the foresight and vision that led to the creation of one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher education.
In 1900, the Ex-Students Association (Texas Exes) adopted a resolution which states: "Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible."
The Texas Independence Day Celebration is the Chapter’s major fundraising event of the year. All net proceeds from the event benefit the Chapter's Scholarship Fund which awards academic scholarship to incoming University of Texas Students from Fayette County.
The event begins at 11am and includes a day of delicious BBQ, silent auction items, and featured speaker Arleas Upton Kea, President and Chair of Texas Exes Board of Directors.
Tickets to the Texas Independence Day Celebration & Scholarship Banquet are $50 per person. Please RSVP by February 27, 2026.
