Do I need meditation experience?

No prior meditation experience is required. All practice backgrounds are welcome. The guidance will be accessible and invitational, with space to meet the practice in your own way.

What should I bring?

Please bring whatever supports comfortable floor sitting and ease — a yoga mat, blanket, cushion, block, or backrest. You’re also welcome to bring water, sun protection, or layers as needed.

Will we be sitting the whole time?

Accepted Answer

Mostly, yes. There may be brief moments of gentle movement or walking, but the practice is primarily seated and oriented toward stillness and listening. If you prefer to lie down, you are welcome to.

What kind of meditation is this?

The practice is primarily a form of mindfulness but begins with body-based grounding, moves into mindful awareness, and gradually opens attention to include the surrounding natural environment. The emphasis is on presence, listening, and relationship rather than technique or performance.

Is this religious or spiritual?

The practice is contemplative but non-sectarian. It draws inspiration from long-standing meditation traditions while remaining accessible and inclusive for people of any belief system.

What if I get uncomfortable or need to move?

You’re encouraged to take care of your body. You’re always welcome to shift posture, stand, or step away quietly if needed. There’s no expectation to “push through” discomfort.

What’s the terrain like?

We’ll be gathering outdoors on natural ground near the trailhead. The area is relatively accessible, though not fully paved. If you have specific access needs or questions, feel free to reach out ahead of time.

Will there be bugs / weather exposure?

Because we’re outdoors, we’ll be sharing space with the elements. Light layers, long sleeves, or natural bug repellent can be helpful. We’ll adapt as needed to conditions.

How much talking or sharing is involved?

There may be a brief opening and closing, with optional reflection at the end. Sharing is always invitational — listening is a complete form of participation.
