A monthly book club hosted by Wichita’s independent Black-owned bookstore.
Left on Read: The Club™ is the official book club of Wichita's independent Black-owned bookstore (and the only Black-owned bookstore in Kansas), Left on Read. We gather each month around books that spark joy, stretch our minds, and open doors to new worlds. Our picks highlight Black authors and other under-amplified voices, spanning fiction, nonfiction, classics, contemporary, sci-fi, fantasy, memoir, social justice, history, self-help, and more.
Each meeting is treated like a track on a shared playlist, with the host serving as the DJ, guiding the conversation and setting the tone. This is a facilitated discussion intended to foster meaningful, thought-provoking exchange through the sharing of ideas and perspectives. Attendance is capped, and registration is required.
You're encouraged to complete all readings, but you don't need to finish the book to participate. Don't let that stop you! Instead, come ready to make new connections, listen, reflect, and engage.
So, meet us in the club... it’s goin’ down! This is your chance to leave the grind on read, pull up with a good book, and connect with other readers in your community.
