Come hear and learn about the pipe organ tradition at one of Sherbrooke's most unique churches.

Plymouth-Trinity United Church

Join Plymouth-Trinity's organist and music director Leslie Young for a presentation about the rich tradition of organ music at this iconic Sherbrooke church rooted in the city's Methodist and Congregational heritage.An organ from S.R. Warren was installed at Plymouth Congregational Church in 1882. As the congregation grew more affluent, in 1907 they traded this organ for a 25-stop organ by Casavant Frères. The early 20th century saw competition betreen Plymouth, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, and St. Peter’s Anglican Church for the city's top organists and the best instruments. Plymouth-Trinity is now a multi-lingual congregation and continues this organ music tradition almost 150 years later.This presentation will be followed by a short tour of the church and its premises.About: Plymouth Congregational Church (1835) built its classical style building in 1855. Plymouth Congregational and Sherbrooke (Trinity) Methodist Church (1846) joined the United Church of Canada (1925).
