Do I need to be in the military to participate?

Not at all! This event is open to everyone—civilians, students and service members. We love having a mix of backgrounds on the course.

What is the minimum age?

Competitors must be 16 years old; those under 18 must have a guardian present to sign the waiver. There is no maximum age—just be ready for a tough workout!

Question 3

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Bring a photo ID, your signed waiver (or be prepared to sign at check‑in), plenty of water, and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Gloves are highly recommended.

Can I register as an individual?

Accepted Answer

Yes—register as an individual and we’ll place you into a 4‑person team. Racing with strangers often leads to new friendships by the finish line!

Question 5

Is the course accessible?

Accepted Answer

The parade deck and spectator areas are accessible, but the racecourse is not stroller‑ or wheelchair‑friendly due to obstacles and uneven terrain. Spectators are welcome to cheer along the route and at the finish.

What if it rains?

The Bulldog Challenge happens rain or shine. Expect to get muddy no matter the weather—embracing the elements is part of the fun.

What happens after the race?

Accepted Answer

Stick around for the awards ceremony, music and refreshments. Celebrate your accomplishment and cheer for the fastest teams and the Spirit Award winners.

Where does the money go?

Accepted Answer

Proceeds support leadership training, scholarships and morale programs for cadets and Marines within The Citadel’s NROTC unit.
