Overview

Complete this module after the prerequisite online modules to become a Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional.

The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program offers a Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional (FFLCP) designation to individuals who have completed the required training in FFL principles and are familiar with the latest UF/IFAS recommendations. These trained professionals have demonstrated the ability to recognize and address common landscape issues by using environmentally sustainable landscape management practices that help preserve and protect Florida’s water and natural resources.

FFLCP candidates must complete prerequisite online courses (see here: https://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/ffl-and-you/ffl-professional-certification/getting-certified/ ), participate in a field module with exam, and agree to the code of ethics. The 3- to 4-hour Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Certified Professional Field Module consists of both classroom and field training, and an exam. The classroom training reviews FFL principles and topics covered in the online prerequisite courses. The field training includes a site visit to review site conditions, identify what is/is not FFL, identify invasive plants and weeds, and discuss recommended management practices. Please complete the prerequisite online courses mentioned above BEFORE attending the Field Module.

To learn more, visit the FFLCP website: https://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/ffl-and-you/ffl-professional-certification/.

Landscape professionals: Add "Florida-Friendly" to your resume and be added to the State's public directory of FFLCPs. You do not need to be from Sarasota County to attend. The field module can be completed in any county as this is a statewide certification.
