Overview

This interactive show features the stand-up comedy of immigrant and 1st generation performers! Raising funds for Amica Center.

Comedy as a Second Language is a live, interactive standup show presented by Improbable Comedy, featuring a great lineup of immigrant and first gen performers! Enjoy lots of fun with our comics as they share stories and jokes about their lives, their families and the relationship with their new home. A portion of ticket sales from this show will benefit Amica Center for Immigrant Rights.

About the Woke Mob Comedy Festival
The woke mob is rising up! With an absolutely unhinged dedication to diversity, bodily autonomy, and democracy itself, we are undrainable swamp people who work hard every day to keep our home in the DMV culturally hostile to the fascists in power. And honestly? We deserve to have fun while we do it.

The Woke Mob Comedy Festival celebrates everything that makes this region the best, even as the rest of the country sends us its worst. We’re showcasing the DMV’s funniest comedians, especially highlighting BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+ and gender-queer performers, plus a few “prodigal” comics who got their start here before heading national. Check out the full festival schedule here.

It'll be hilarious, joyful, AND every show gives back! With our neighbors under attack, we're raising funds for local organizations that are helping some of our region's most vulnerable. A percentage of ticket sales from this show go to Amica Center for Immigrant Rights.

Improbable Comedy is an independent production group based in Silver Spring, MD known for presenting underrepresented groups and talent. See their quirky vibe and diverse, themed lineups in shows like the MOTHER of All Comedy Shows, Squeak, and The Originals: All Native Comedy. Improbable Comedy has produced hundreds of shows in the DMV including the SPRUNG! Comedy Festival, now in its fourth year.

Note: We aim to present an incredible show for you at every event. As this is live performance, there are sometimes last minute changes to the lineup. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
