Texas Independence Day Luncheon and Scholarship Fundraiser
Join us for the Texas Independence Day Luncheon to celebrate the founding of our university!
As a Texas Ex, Texas Independencd Day holds special significance as the day that commemorates the founding of The University of Texas. Established through the Texas Constitution of 1876, the university was envisioned as a “university of the first class,” dedicated to the promotion of literature, the arts, sciences, and more. This day serves as a celebration of the foresight and vision that led to the creation of one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher education.
In 1900, the Ex-Students Association (Texas Exes) adopted a resolution which states: "Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible."
Please join the Texas Exes New Jersey Chapter for our annual Texas Independence Day Luncheon and Scholarship Fundraiser. This is a great way to stay connected to our alma mater while giving back to our community. During the luncheon, you will have an opportunity to donate to the Texas Exes New Jersey Scholarship, which awards an incoming University of Texas freshman from New Jersey every year.
The luncheon will be held at noon at Oso Felipe , 2 Erie Street, Montclair, New Jersey. There is a parking lot in the back. Please join us for some good food and good companionship with your fellow Texas Exes. Friends and family are welcome.
