How to Approach a Stranger

How to Approach a Stranger

Online event
Multiple dates
Overview

A 90-minute workshop for anyone who wants to talk to strangers more — without being awkward, intrusive, or overthinking it.

Approaching strangers is one of the most underrated ways to add aliveness to your life — and it’s also one of the most avoided.

This session is about making it feel normal, safe, and even enjoyable.

Together we’ll explore how to:

  • Find low-pressure openings (environment, shared context, micro-noticings)
  • Make “small” interactions feel warm and human — without forcing depth
  • Handle rejection lightly (and keep your dignity intact)
  • Know when to continue, when to end, and how to exit cleanly

This workshop is for you if…

  • You want more spontaneous connection in everyday life (cafés, trains, queues, parks, events)
  • You feel shy or self-conscious approaching people — even when you want to
  • You want scripts that don’t feel like scripts
  • You want to build the muscle of social courage

In this highly experiential session, you’ll:

  • Learn 3 “approach modes” (gentle, playful, direct) so you can choose what fits
  • Practise in structured breakouts (so it’s not cringe)
  • Experiment with micro-openers that are socially attuned and not intense
  • Design an “in the wild” challenge for the week (one tiny approach)

You’ll leave with a handful of openers you can use anywhere — and the confidence to try.

Members of the Tranformational Conversations Continuous Learning Programme will be given priority and free access – this workshop will have limited spots available publicly.

A glimpse of the Transformational Conversations Continuous Learning Programme

This workshop is also a doorway into the new Transformational Conversations Continuous Learning Programme – a light-touch, ongoing “practice studio” for alumni and friends.

The Continuous Learning Programme is designed to help you:

  • Stay connected to the work over time, rather than doing one course and slipping back into old patterns
  • Turn “I know this in theory” into real behaviour change in your everyday conversations
  • Have regular opportunities to practise, troubleshoot and get support with real situations across the year

It weaves together:

  • Monthly themed masterclass labs (like this one)
  • Monthly Q&A / coaching calls with Georgie
  • Practice spaces, social hangouts and guest sessions with collaborators in related fields
  • Different membership tiers (from light structure to small-group + 1:1 coaching) so you can choose the level of support that fits your season of life

Alumni who join from February 2026 will have access to reduced founding rates for the first year. I’ll share more detail at the end of the workshop – very briefly, and with absolutely no pressure.
