Botanical Platter and Bowl
Be inspired by the flowers we grow here on the farm! You will make a platter and bowl set imprinted by flowers and foliage. No two the same!
Come join us on the farm and learn how to sculpt your own custom botanical serving dish and bowl set! This is one of my favorite ceramic techniques because of how easy it is to do, and how beautiful the results turn out! During this class, you will be able to work with flowers and foliage from our flower field and choose your favorites, and imprint them into clay for your one of a kind dish and bowl set! We think this could make the perfect charcuterie, sushi/soy sauce and chip and dip set! After you finish sculpting your dish, you will get to pick out what glazes you would like, and after firing, Delaney and Kim will carefully glaze your creations with the colors of your choice! This class is fantastic for all experience levels, and we can't wait to see what you create! Who doesn't love flowers! If only they could last forever... Oh wait! They can! Come join us and sculpt your own custom botanical serving dish and bowl set!
About Crane and Clover's Barn Studio Space!
Step into Crane and Clover's Barn Studio Space, where creativity thrives amidst the charm of our family farm! As you enter the property through the stone columns out front, follow the gravel driveway and take your first right towards our barn. Follow the signs for parking. Upon entering the barn, you'll find our beautiful art and floral design workshop where creativity thrives!
The picturesque view of the lake and fresh air inspires students of any age, but there's more to our studio than meets the eye. Say hello to our pony, Bunny, who loves to say hello when she's not busy grazing in the pasture. And when nature calls don't worry, we've got you covered! No porta-potties here! You have access to an indoor and air conditioned bathroom just steps away in the tack room. Every comfort is addressed so you can focus on unleashing your creativity and making your creations come to life!
Things to Know About This Space:
-This studio is in our barn and we often leave the doors open, so be sure to wear clothes that are compatible for the weather! During the warmer months, we keep large fans going and the barn doors open for that lovely summer breeze. In the cooler months, we have space heaters that keep the barn nice and toasty. We will also have bug spray on hand just in case! Please keep in mind, this is a working farm, with uneven surfaces to walk on. We have reserved a parking spot up front for anyone who needs it, but please be aware that there is a small stretch of gravel between the car and the barn door. Floors in the barn are concrete. If you need special accommodation, please don't hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to accommodate.
Please know that by purchasing this ticket, participants agree to release the event organizers, sponsors, and related parties from any and all liability for injuries, damages, or losses arising from participation.
Kiln Firing Disclaimer!
When we fire ceramics in the kiln, the process involves heating your artwork to very high temperatures (around 2235°F!) to make them strong and prepared for glazing. However, sometimes ceramics can explode during firing. This can be caused by a number of reasons, like trapped air pockets, lingering moisture in the clay, or just plain bad luck! If your sculpture ends up having a rough time in the kiln, don't stress it! We will reach out to schedule a day where you can come out and sculpt your masterpiece again, free of charge.
Our unofficial motto at the Crane and Clover is “We do it right, because we do it twice!”
Picking Up Your Finished Ceramics!
Finished ceramics are typically ready for pick up three weeks after your class depending on the size and glazing detail of your project. Each piece will be carefully glazed by Kim and Delaney with the glazes of your choice, and once your pieces are done with the firing process, we will reach out to schedule what day and time works best for you to pick up your custom ceramic masterpiece!
