Overview

Our seasonal aura workshop series is back for 2026 combining aura photographs and journaling as tools for self-reflection.

Join us for the spring installment of Subtle Bodies: Self-Reflection Through Aura Photography as we welcome the renewal and growth the season provides. Inspired by the teachings of Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass, after taking our initial aura portraits, we will step outside into the museum's park and gardens to practice the art of quiet attention — sitting with the living world and simply receiving what it offers. We will then gather back together to witness and discuss how that time in nature may have shifted what's radiating within us.

About the Program

Once a season, we will gather at Alice Austen House to sit for portraits made with the AuraCam6000, a specialized camera system that uses touch sensors to reveal radiant aura fields around the body. The physical readings from someone’s hands produce an image that is entirely unique to each individual.

As a group, we will discuss and interpret the colors present in our portraits and what meaning they may hold in our current lives. Each workshop session will include time for self-reflective journaling and thoughtful writing prompts based on your latest aura portrait. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own journals through a guided book-making session during our first meeting. This workshop meets quarterly throughout 2026.

Workshop Fee: $30 per workshop (includes aura portraits)

Workshop dates: Winter: January 10th, Spring: April 11th, Summer: July 11th, Fall: October 17th
