This is Memphis: A Documentary Experience- In This Place 2026
Experience Memphis through fresh eyes. Join us for a documentary premiere celebrating the people, stories, and culture that shape our city.
This Is Memphis is the culminating experience of the In This Place season and a powerful moment to gather, reflect, and celebrate everything we have shared together. This documentary experience brings the full arc of the season into focus, capturing Memphis as a living culture shaped by its people, its stories, and its deep sense of place. It is an evening designed to feel meaningful, connective, and unforgettable.
The film is created by our Artist in Residence, Racheal Weathers, who came to Memphis from outside the city and immersed herself fully in its culture. Through conversations with Memphians, time spent listening, and moving through the city with curiosity and care, she documented what it feels like to witness Memphis from a fresh perspective. The result is a film that reflects the richness, beauty, and complexity of Memphis culture and shows how powerful it can be when someone takes the time to truly see this city and its people.
The evening begins with a conversation between Racheal and Anasa Troutman, offering insight into the journey behind the film and what it meant to experience Memphis so closely. After the screening, the conversation continues with reflections and audience questions, followed by a season close that brings the themes of In This Place together. The night ends with a celebration where people can connect, talk, and carry the energy of the season forward.
This documentary experience is part of In This Place 2026: This is Memphis, a citywide season of culture, community, and capital rooted at Historic Clayborn Temple and powered by The Big We. Throughout the season, people gathered to sing, learn, listen, build, and reflect. This final moment brings those experiences together and offers a clear picture of what becomes possible when Memphis shows up for itself and invites others to witness its story with care.
RSVP on Eventbrite and join us for the final night of the In This Place season.
