We move on two tracks: making sure that the people who’ve been left out and left behind get the investment and power they deserve, and strengthening the ties that bind all of us together. They help us build deep relationships, create understanding, and move toward the world we all deserve, quickly and powerfully.

In This Place is a citywide season rooted at Historic Clayborn Temple, inspired by the 1968 Sanitation Workers Strike. Through music, stories, and gatherings, Memphians build community, culture, and capital. Find your people and tap into what’s next!

Have you ever wondered how ideas turn into movements and how stories actually shape what people believe, build, and repeat? Culture Shift 101 is a hands-on workshop that invites you into that process. Led by Memphis-rooted cultural strategist Anasa Troutman, this session breaks down how story moves culture, from a single idea to real behavior and shared momentum. You will learn how stories influence connection, decision-making, and what a city believes is possible.The experience includes a fireside conversation withMemphis' own Bertram Williams Jr. from P. Valley, who will share how storytelling shows up in his creative work and community life. From there, participants work in small groups to apply what they are learning to real scenarios and leave with practical insight they can carry forward. This gathering is welcoming, interactive, and designed for anyone curious about how stories shape Memphis and beyond.Culture Shift 101 is part of In This Place 2026: This is Memphis, a citywide season of culture, community, and capital rooted in Memphis history and powered by The Big We.
