Texas Independence Day BBQ
Join us to celebrate the founding of the University of Texas with awesome BBQ, live music, wine, and more!
As a Texas Ex, March 2nd holds special significance as the day that commemorates the founding of The University of Texas. Established through the Texas Constitution of 1876, the university was envisioned as a “university of the first class,” dedicated to the promotion of literature, the arts, sciences, and more. This day serves as a celebration of the foresight and vision that led to the creation of one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher education.
In 1900, the Ex-Students Association (Texas Exes) adopted a resolution which states: "Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible."
Please join us for our Texas Independence Day celebration to commemorate the establishment of our incredible alma mater. All net proceeds from the event benefit the Chapter's Scholarship Fund which awards academic scholarships to incoming University of Texas Students from Highland Lakes.
Tickets are $50 and include fantastic BBQ from our pit master extraordinaire, sides and desert, and one glass of wine.
Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP.
We can't wait to see you there! Hook 'em!
