Welcome To Wine School World Tour: France
WTWS World Tour: France. Guided tasting led by Certified Sommelier Gary Russell. Limited seating. March 14th in DC.
Join us for a guided wine tasting in Washington, DC led by Certified Sommelier Gary Russell. This intimate March event is a focused tour through France — and yes, I’m biased. If you’ve ever wondered why France is still the reference point for so much of the wine world, come taste the evidence and decide if I’m right (I am).
We’ll begin with Champagne as the welcome pour, then move into two white wines, followed by two red flights (two wines per flight). The exact categories and regions will be selected to create contrast and progression, so you can taste differences side-by-side instead of trying to “study” them in your head. Final wine selections will be shared with attendees.
This isn’t a lecture — and it’s definitely not a wine “class” where you’re worried about getting the answers right.
Instead, expect:
Clear, engaging storytelling
Practical insight you can actually use
A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere
A guided tasting format that helps you taste with confidence
Wines chosen for both quality and approachability
Along the way, you’ll learn a simple pro method for tasting (sight, nose, palate), how to spot the clues that point to style and region, and how to trust your own preferences — whether you’re ordering at a restaurant or buying a bottle for home.
Whether you’re just beginning your wine journey or already love exploring new bottles, this experience is built to meet you where you are — and maybe help you see French wine (and your own curiosity) a little differently.
Limited to 25 seats to keep the experience personal and conversational.
If you’ve been curious about Welcome to Wine School, this is a great place to start.
We will share the event location after your tickets are purchased.
