Join SheJumps as we celebrate Get the Girls Out! – a nationwide campaign uniting women and girls to embrace the great outdoors while fostering a sense of adventure and camaraderie. Spurred by International Women's Day, this program is a call to action for participants of all ages to connect with nature, break down barriers, and celebrate their achievements and strengths throughout the month of March. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a newcomer, the Get the Girls Out! gatherings aim to foster a community where participants can thrive outdoors, inspire one another and younger generations, forge new connections, and rekindle friendships. Grab your friends, and get ready to make unforgettable memories!

All minors (under age 18) must be supervised by a parent or guardian for the full event.

Join BHPFA and SheJumps to Get the Girls Out at Jewel Cave National Monument from 9:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. This is a relaxed, welcoming event for women in the Black Hills who want a new adventure, some fresh air, and a chance to meet others who like getting outside. We’ll have a Base Camp with hot cocoa, a drop-in tutu/flair station, a Trail Swap Wall to share favorite local outings, and a bingo card you can complete at your own pace.

At 10:45 a.m., we have the option to head into the cave for an exclusive Scenic Cave Tour, then we’ll regroup afterward to share highlights back at Base Camp. We’ll wrap up with a raffle at 12:30 p.m., followed by a quick preview of upcoming women’s events. Come solo or bring a friend—this day is designed to be low-key, friendly, and fun!

Scenic Cave Tour Details: The cave tour is optional, but preregistration is required due to limited spots!! If you dont want to go in the cave, there are multiple hiking trail options and a fun bingo adventure. Meet back at base camp for the raffle at 12:30 pm!

You are welcome to go on a self-guided hike before or after the Cave Tour.

Cost:

What to bring:

For the cave tour:

Wear tennis shoes, sneakers, or hiking boots.

No sandals or shoes with openings are allowed. If footwear is questionable, park rangers may ask you to change shoes before the tour. If appropriate footwear is not available, you may be denied access to the cave tour.

Leave all backpacks, hiking sticks, food, and beverages in your vehicle. These may not be brought into the cave.


For hiking (optional)

Dress for winter conditions and plan for changing weather:

Sturdy hiking footwear and layers

Backpack, water, snacks

Hat and gloves

Trekking poles (optional)

Traction devices for shoes (e.g., Kahtoola MICROspikes), as conditions warrant

Travel mug for hot drinks at Base Camp

Weather notice: Please note: this event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. We will notify participants as late as the night before if we need to cancel due to weather conditions.Parking and getting to the event: Free parking, carpooling is encouraged.

Facility & accessibility information: The Scenic Cave tour is not ADA accessible. The 80 min tour includes 784 stairs and tight passageways. There are accessible cave tours available here:https://www.recreation.gov/ticket/facility/10088103

Admission: Free—Jewel Cave National Monument does not require a pass.

Amenities: Gendered bathrooms at the visitor center. No food is available onsite—please bring snacks and lunch. Hot drinks will be provided at Base Camp; bring your travel mug.

Connectivity: Cell service is unreliable. Wi-Fi is available near the visitor center.

Accommodations: If you need any accommodations, please request them at checkout. We will do our best to support participants so everyone can enjoy the program.
