The literary arts industry in America holds a pervasive assumption of flexibility and pliability (frequently found in single and childless emerging artists) around time, energy, and money. Pen Parentis was born to ensure that creative writers who are also parents are not left behind by this system.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Accepted Answer

YES! to the full extent of the law. Our EIN is #46-2304312 and no goods or services are given as an exchange for your donation. We appreciate your generosity!

I am a writer who has kids, can I read for you?

Accepted Answer

PROBABLY! Reach out to us via our website at penparentis.org - we seek published talent in all genres! Please let us know where you live, and a little about your book. Mention the age of your child. Let us in on anything else that would make you a good guest esp any prior Pen Parentis associations!

Question 4

Will audience be on video?

Accepted Answer

No - this Livestream allows you to have your life (make the dinner, tell the kids to pipe down, multitask on a walk, it's all good - we know you're busy!)  - Audience is NOT on video, but the authors and moderators can see your texts if you click through an  log in to YouTube or Facebook.

Question 5

My kids are loud and I have to go, will anyone know?

Accepted Answer

Nope - It won't affect the livecast if you are arriving late or leaving early - we can only see what you type to us. We can, however, see any "likes" -- they look like hearts swooping up across the page to us, so feel free to send emojis while the readings are going on!

I can't log in.

Accepted Answer

Click through to the video in the Eventbrite email. The livecast is only live after it begins at 7pm ET. (Watch from anywhere/any time zone.) To chat with us, click through to YouTube or find us on Facebook Live.  You can click &watch from the email at 7pm.  You must log in to YouTube or FB to chat.
