ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Brian Healy is a Boston-based architect known for pursuing a distinctly American architecture rooted in place, vernacular tradition, and modern precedent. Since founding Brian Healy Architects in 1986, he has designed a wide range of buildings—residences, cultural centers, civic projects, housing, and campuses—that respond sensitively to their context and program. His work seeks to balance utility and experience, engaging the rhythms of everyday life while referencing the legacy of figures like Wright and Sullivan. Healy’s projects often articulate space through thoughtful gestures—cranks, lifts, and angles that respond to views, light, and site conditions. He has also contributed as an educator at Yale, Harvard, MIT, Penn, and other schools, and his collected works are published in Commonplaces: Working on an American Architecture, illustrating his longtime commitment to an architecture that is both poetic and practical.
