ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Felipe Mesa is a Colombian architect and founding principal of PLAN B: Arquitectos, a Medellín- based practice recognized for its deeply contextual and conceptually rigorous work. Mesa’s architecture is grounded in a philosophical stance that treats each project as a “provisional pact”—a negotiated response to social, environmental, economic, and material constraints rather than a fixed formal solution. He views architecture as a permeable system, one that absorbs and reflects the conditions of its place, allowing context to shape form, structure, and use. Ranging from public buildings and housing to landscapes and installations, his buildings are characterized by openness, adaptability, and a strong dialogue with climate, topography, urban fabric, and cultural life.
