抽象表现主义作为美国绘画史上的一场变革性运动，于二战后在纽约市蓬勃发展。该运动体现了美国的核心价值观——表达自由与创新精神，并深刻改变了艺术界。北京美国中心的展览《抽象之谜》汇聚六位中外当代艺术家，以油画、纸本、装置与即兴现场等多种形式，突出展示了美国的文化影响力，展现了当个人能够自由表达内心深处信念与愿望时所迸发出的强大力量。

日常中我们习惯用逻辑评判万物，被理性的规训填满生活，渐渐遗失了直觉赋予的审美本能。直觉，不是艺术家的特权属性，而是人人拥有的精神潜能。即将举办的两场艺术活动，邀你挣脱具象的枷锁：从抽象作品里，用直觉捕捉色彩与线条的隐秘共鸣；在自由创作里，以即兴笔触碰撞思维火花，伴随音乐流淌，让画笔追随心游走，最终沉潜于直觉绘画的自由场域。

How do you understand abstraction? How does your intuition guide your creativity?

Abstract Expressionism emerged as a transformative movement in American painting, flourishing in New York City after World War II. The movement embodied core American values—freedom of expression and innovation—and profoundly changed the art world. “The Mystery of Abstraction,” an exhibition at the Beijing American Center, brings together six contemporary artists from China and abroad. Through oil paintings, works on paper, installations, and live improvisational performances, the exhibition highlights America’s cultural influence and demonstrates the powerful energy that arises when individuals are free to express their innermost beliefs and aspirations.

In our daily lives, we are accustomed to judging everything through logic, our routines filled with the discipline of rationality, gradually losing the innate sense of aesthetics that intuition provides. Intuition is not the exclusive privilege of artists, but a spiritual potential that everyone possesses. Two upcoming art events invite you to break free from the constraints of the concrete: use your intuition to capture the hidden resonance of color and line in abstract works; in free creation, let spontaneous brushstrokes spark new ideas, let your brush follow your heart as music flows, and ultimately immerse yourself in the free realm of intuitive painting.

No technique is required, no overthinking is needed—every stroke is an impromptu expression of the soul. In a relaxed atmosphere, rediscover the aesthetic pleasure led by intuition. We look forward to seeing you at the Beijing American Center—let’s explore the mystery of abstraction together!

Guests must bring a valid, original, physical photo identification – pictures or copies of IDs are not acceptable – to enter the Beijing American Center.

• 请勿携带笔记本电脑。便携式电子设备如手机，iPads和其他平板电脑，智能手表可以带入。请勿携带大包。

Guests may bring portable electronic devices like mobile phones, tablets (iPads, etc.), and smartwatches, but they may not bring laptop computers or large bags to Beijing American Center programs.

Attendees grant permission to the U.S. Department of State to photograph and video record their image and/or voice and to release, publish, broadcast, or quote images, recordings, and their content in public information programs and activities such as in speeches, on the Internet, through multiple broadcast channels, and in print media. Directions: Take Metro Line 10, Liangmaqiao Station Exit B, and walk northeast to the intersection of Tian Ze Road and An Jia Lou Road on the north side of the Visa Section.
