Overview

Make an illuminated parasol to twirl in the Sandy Springs Lantern Parade!

This lantern workshop is for "Take it to the River" Sandy Springs Lantern Parade on May 9, 2026!

It is fun to twirls an illuminated parasol in the parade! The parasols are very easy and can be as simple or elaborate as you like. It’s your design. We are adding lights to white paper parasols and decorating them with colored tissue paper and glue.

All materials are provided including lights and batteries. This project is best for ages capable of using scissors. Kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Tickets are per parasol. Two people are welcome to work on one, but please no more than two. Please do your best to be on time to get all the instructions.

This workshop is with lantern parade artist, Chantelle Rytter, founder of the Sandy Springs Lantern Parade and several others. Chantelle is the proud Captain of the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons. See more of their parades and lantern-making ideas at www.weirdgonepro.com.
